Riello G20 Diesel Burner for Medium Commercial Boilers
Large hotels, hospitals, schools, laundries and factories need plenty of hot water, often around the clock. Their boilers need a burner with enough power to keep up, and the reliability to run day after day. The Riello G20 diesel burner delivers both. At Wisdo Merchants, we supply it to boiler contractors, technicians and facility managers across Nairobi and Kenya.
The G20 is the most powerful standard model in Riello’s 40 G series of single-stage light oil burners. It fires between 95 and 213 kW, burning diesel at 8 to 18 kg per hour. As a result, it suits medium-sized hot water and heating boilers in busy commercial and light industrial buildings.
Features and Benefits of the Riello G20 Diesel Burner
- Powerful output. It delivers from 95 to 213 kW, enough for medium commercial boilers.
- Fully automatic. The burner manages ignition, flame supervision and shutdown under the control of the boiler thermostat.
- Adjustable to your boiler. You set the exact output by choosing the nozzle and pump pressure.
- Hydraulic air damper. The air damper opens automatically at start-up, giving a smooth, controlled ignition.
- Easy maintenance. The burner’s design gives quick access to the nozzle, electrodes and combustion head.
For facility managers, this means dependable hot water during peak demand. Meanwhile, technicians get a well-known burner with widely available spare parts.

Applications of the Riello G20 Diesel Burner and How to Use It
- Hot water boilers in large hotels, lodges and hospitals
- Heating boilers in schools, offices and institutions
- Laundry and kitchen hot water systems
- Light industrial process heating with appliances designed for pressure-jet burners
- Replacing an older burner of similar output on an existing boiler
Commissioning a New Burner
Picture a hospital replacing a worn-out burner on its main hot water boiler. First, the technician fits the G20 to the boiler using the mounting flange and gasket. Next, they connect the diesel supply and return lines, sealing threaded fittings with our yellow pipe thread sealant, and fit a nozzle sized for the boiler. After that, they wire the burner to the boiler controls and prime the pump. Finally, they fire the burner, set the pump pressure and air damper, and use a combustion analyser to tune the flame for clean, efficient burning.
Keep It Running Smoothly
Riello recommends checking the pump pressure regularly, at least once a year, and every six months for burners that run continuously. A drop in pressure usually points to dirty pump or line filters. In addition, clean, water-free diesel helps keep the nozzle clear and the flame stable. For smaller boilers needing 28 to 60 kW, consider our smaller 28–60 kW model.
Safety and Handling
- Use qualified technicians. Only trained burner and boiler technicians should install, commission and service the burner.
- Ensure good ventilation. The boiler room needs enough fresh air for complete combustion.
- Check the flue. A sound, unblocked chimney keeps dangerous flue gases out of the building.
- Keep fuel lines tight. Leaks let air into the pump and create a fire risk.
- Isolate power before work. Switch off and lock out the electrical supply before servicing.
- Service regularly. Clean the combustion head, replace the nozzle and check the flame at each service.
Frequently Asked Questions
What boiler size does the G20 suit?
It suits boilers needing 95 to 213 kW of burner output. A technician sets the exact output with the nozzle and pump pressure.
What fuel does it burn?
It burns light oil, commonly known as diesel, with a viscosity of 4 to 6 mm²/s at 20 °C.
Why does my burner lock out?
Common causes include air in the fuel line, blocked filters or nozzle, a dirty photocell and incorrect electrode settings. A technician can trace the exact cause.
How often should it be serviced?
At least once a year. However, burners running continuously, such as in hotels and hospitals, benefit from a service every six months.
